MEADOWBROOK ESTATES CIVIC ASSOCIATIONBoard of Directors MeetingWednesday, February 18, 2026The feedback from a lot of Google research is not denitive but ALL indications are that when a switch in made from a good postal system to a good electronic system THE RESPONSE GOES DOWN. Attendees: Julius Huggins, Ben Thorp, Brenda AtkinsAction Items:Julius, Leslie, Ben – will meet with new Police Chief Edward Carpenter, on March 9, at 10 a.m. at Chesterfield County Police DepartmentJulius will send out notice to all board members to advise of special called Board Meeting next Wednesday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m. at MCC.Julius began the meeting at 7:00 p.m.Hopkins Road Bridge Replacement
Glen and Tyla attended the VDOT public hearing concerning the bridge replacement at Hopkins Road at the Falling Creek dam. They gave Julius handouts for board members.Next MECA General MeetingJulius has scheduled our next General Membership meeting for Wednesday, March 25, and would like our guest speaker to be new Chesterfield County Chief of Police Edward F. Carpenter. Julius and Leslie will be meeting with him on Monday, March 9 at 10 a.m. at Chesterfield County Police Department. Anyone else who would like to attend would be happily included. Ben said he would like to be there. At that time Col. Carpenter will be invited to speak to our group and hopefully that time will be agreeable to him.Call for MECA HelpJulius told of a phone call he got from a neighbor at 4848 Stornoway Drive (Muriel Wynter). She wanted him to come to her house regarding a problem she was having with her next door neighbor regarding their dog in her yard. When he got there the neighbors were not getting along – the Police came and made a report and Animal Control came and made a report. Julius talked to them and settled them down and by the time he left they were on reasonable friendly terms.Meet and Greet NeighborsJulius would like to start the Meet and Greet on a Saturday in March and continue every other Saturday. We will put an announcement in the Meadowlark to let neighbors know we will be beginning this initiative so that we won’t be a surprise on their doorstep. We will ideally have two people per house going door to door for introductions and material handouts. (Exception: Ben will do Cogbill.)There will be a very short survey. Ben would like first question to be ‘Do you think this neighborhood is worth saving?’ ‘What would you be willing to do to help save MECA?’Why do we need help? Dues payments have been steadily going down for the past several years. Participation has decreased to six board members, and six patrol members. We don’t have enough participation to accomplish what needs to be done – the same nine people are doing it all.Meadowbrook Country Club closes at 8:30 so we tied things up at this point. But we will have a special called meeting next Wednesday, February 25 at 6:30 to iron things out. Julius will send out notice to board members.Meeting was adjourned at 8:15. Respectfully submitted,Brenda Atkins
